THE REASON I STOPPED GETTING MY NAILS DONE

Before December 2018, every 3 weeks or so I would make a trip to one of my local nail salons to get my nails done – this could cost me from around £16-£25 a time… Don’t ask me how 17-year-old me could ever afford that! It all changed when my mum bought me a LED gel nail kit for Christmas.
So, I got my last set of acrylics removed and my nails were a state, they felt weak and looked awful, but I was determined to keep them as natural as possible… I was over having long nails and didn’t really like the look of it anymore. Since opening and using the kit for the first time I have never been back to the salon.
I have the Mylee black LED pro lamp and with it came a couple of gel polishes, acetone remover, gel polish foil remover wraps, prep & shine wipes & some nail and cuticle oil. I have only ever purchased more of the gel polishes since using the kit for a wider selection of colours. It is so easy to use, and the best thing is that everything from Mylee is affordable! (The colour I used for this set is ‘Caramel’)
STEPS
I’m not lying when I say its easy…
1. Remove any polish you already have on your nails, if this is gel use acetone and their foil remover wraps (this will take about 10-15 minutes to soak off) or recently I have been trying a magic remover which is in nail polish form that you apply directly to the gel and it begins to lift.
2. Then shape and buff your nails, I always try to make sure the nails are as smooth as possible for the best result.
3. Use one of the prep & shine wipes to prepare for the base coat. (I’ve read this dehydrates the nail which sounds scary but ensures the gel lasts longer…)
4. The base coat – probably the most important step! From here out its pretty self-explanatory but paint your nail and cap the edge with a thin layer of gel to prevent lifting.
5. Cure the base coat and repeat step with your colour. I usually do 15-30 seconds for the base coat & colour in between layers.
6. Apply the top coat and cure for 2 mins.
7. Use the prep & shine wipes as well as some cuticle oil and your done!

It does take a little longer than applying normal nail polish but this lasts me up to 2 weeks! I use this on my mum and friends sometimes so it also comes in handy for a girls night. The kit has converted me and I highly doubt you’ll see me with acrylic nails again…

P.s I'm working on the shape of my nails at the moment so don't mind that!
