BACK TO BLACK

Let’s talk about why I keep going back to the little black dress. The LBD has been around for so many years, a timeless member of all of our wardrobes. Influenced by several iconic women and dresses it has always been a classic. The simplicity of the dress makes it versatile to style which I think is one of the main reasons I find myself retreating back to black. If I found a dress I liked, that came in a range of colours I would 80% of the time pick the monochrome option. Black gives you the opportunity to wear something eccentric and make a statement without being too OTT. And of course, its slimming…

Despite having a lot of colour in my wardrobe I always reach for my neutral options all year round, especially during the colder months of the year. Here are four of my favourite black dresses to go out in.

PRETTY LITTLE THING - £20

BLACK BUTTON FRONT RUCHED BODYCON DRESS

This LBD is from Pretty Little Thing. It’s so flattering, and the detailing makes the dress look a lot more expensive than it was! I styled this with biker boots from Primark (£18) and this was perfect (slightly chilly) for a night out last month.

ZARA - DEPOP BOUGHT

ASYMMETRICAL RUFFLE DRESS

Next from Zara is this beautiful dress with ruffling down one side and the trim of the garment. I picked this one up from Depop a season late actually! You would be surprised what you can find on there and for a fraction of the original price. The heels I am wearing in this photo are also from Primark (£12) and they have to be my favourite style because they are just so comfortable! You’ll start to realise I love anything with ruffles or some sort of puff sleeve.

PRETTY LITTLE THING - £20 (OUT OF STOCK)

BLACK MESH LAYERED SHIFT DRESS

I love this dress. It gives me Carrie Bradshaw vibes and I’d wear it all the time if I could… I purchased and wore this at the end of August proving there’s room for black in Summer too! The focus was on the layered mesh material instead of it being a tight fit which meant I could eat and drink whatever I wanted throughout the night. I bought an almost identical pink version of this dress from Zara about 2 months before I bought this one and I am still yet to wear the pink so it just shows, black always wins.

PRETTY LITTLE THING - OUT OF STOCK

BLACK BANDAGE BODYCON

This one has definitely been worn the most out of all of the dresses (I have it in 3 colours), probably because it’s the most simplistic. I got this one from Pretty Little Thing maybe a year and a half ago so it’s not on their website anymore, however they do have similar style dresses or there’s always good old Depop. I can’t describe how complimentary this material is to your figure… Totally recommend.
